Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) is the oldest and largest membership organization for professionals in the field of medical practice management. Founded in 1976, Medical Group Management Association of Alabama (MGMA/Alabama) is an affiliate chapter of MGMA, the leading professional association representing medical group practice management.  MGMA/Alabama currently has more than 700 members representing over 14,000 physicians throughout the state of Alabama. MGMA/Alabama's diverse membership is comprised of administrators, managers, supervisors and other health care professionals representing practices of all sizes and specialties. These practices range from solo, group and rural practices to university-based practices and multi-specialty clinics.

The mission of MGMA/Alabama is to advance the art and science of medical practice management to improve the health of our communities. Our vision is to be the source of excellence and innovation as the leading association in providing quality and timely services and resources for medical practice management and leadership through professional education, through the exchange of ideas and information among members and by staying abreast of current healthcare issues, trends and laws.

MGMA also offers the expertise of two integrated organizations - the Center for Research in Ambulatory Health Care Administration (CRAHCA) and the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE). The Center for Research in Ambulatory Health Care Administration (CRAHCA) strives to keep practice management at the forefront of the health care field by providing ongoing research and development in education, publications, database services and demonstration projects. By joining the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE), management professionals become part of a MGMA member network dedicated to becoming the best in the field. ACMPE nurtures this excellence through professional certification - achieved by attaining Fellow status (FACMPE) in the ACMPE.
